More about our quality
Certificates
ISO 9001:2015
Cast Iron holds the ISO 9001:2015 quality certificate. This indicates that our quality management system meets international standards.
Foundry approvals
Our commitment to quality and adherence to strict standards is confirmed by various inspection authorities. Cast Iron achieved foundry approval from Bureau Veritas, American Bureau of Shipping and Lloyd's. This underlines our expertise for marine, offshore and general industrial applications.
Upon request, projects under other recognised authorities, such as RINA, DNV or IRS, are also possible.
First Time Right
At Cast Iron, First Time Right is at the heart of every aspect of our production. From sourcing raw materials to delivery and after-sales service, every process is carefully designed to ensure quality from the first attempt.
We invest in advanced technologies and continuously train our staff to ensure we achieve the best possible results immediately. This commitment to perfection makes that we not only meet, but exceed our customers' expectations.
Thanks to the unique numbering of produced castings, we can achieve full traceability throughout the production process. This allows us to maintain an extremely accurate complaints administration in our after-sales service, with a recall procedure in extreme necessity.
People and organisation
Cast Iron operates several principles, leading to production to the highest standards. For example, no secondment or interims are used. Furthermore, maintaining an untroubled work environment leads to the best possible results.
Organisationally, we always choose resources and systems that contribute to stable output. We use only pig iron, purchased on certificate from approved suppliers. Furthermore, the mild melting process with pre- and post-grafting as well as control of the pouring time ensures the formation of germinative iron. Ecological resins and acids are sprayed over the sand only at the last moment. These and many other parameters are continuously monitored via in-process controls.
Laboratory and control
Every product is thoroughly tested and checked to ensure it meets the required quality standards. Cast Iron has numerous research capabilities internally, which are carried out in our own laboratory on-site.
In the moulding process, we examine issues such as grain distribution, sand strength and viscosity. The cast iron is examined for chemistry, matrix structure, hardness and mechanical properties, among others. We can subject the final casting to a number of non-destructive tests, including ultrasonic, magnetic or penetrant tests. Size reporting is of course also possible. Coating as a surface treatment can be checked via an adhesion test and a layer thickness analysis.
For more complex examinations such as X-ray (RX) testing, we use carefully selected external parties.
